Astragalus (Astragalus Membranaceus) is a perennial flowering plant, native to China.  It is one of the 50 fundamental herbs of Traditional Chinese healing and, as such, has been used for over 2000 years.

Astragalus is primarily used as a boost to the immune system; studies show that it has the potential to increase the body’s production of white blood cells among other immuno-regulatory properties.

Its powerful antioxidant effects have given Astragalus the reputation of supporting the body in healthy ageing and, as an adaptogen, it can also help the body in dealing with stress.  It may also support heart health, and research has shown that it may have anti-cancer properties.
