Shatavari (Asparagus Racemosus), also known as Wild Asparagus, is a species of asparagus native to various high altitude areas of Central Asia.  It is a traditional Ayurvedic plant known as a rasavana, a rejuvenating herb, and is believed to have anti ageing properties.

Traditionally used to promote fertility and vitality in women, and increase milk production in nursing mothers, Shatavari can help to balance hormones and so can be a valuable support during the menopause transition.  Due to its potential to correct hormonal imbalances, Shatavari can help to improve libido, regulate the menstrual cycle, reduce PMS and menstrual cramps and potentially also help with symptoms of PCOS.

Shatavari has anti-inflammatory properties, and has been shown to aid in the treatment and healing of internal ulcers.  It is also an adaptogen, meaning that it can help the body to deal with stress and reduce depression.
